Guild Wars (PC)

"Fun, well-balanced game. Fun PvP for all levels and challenging PvE. The excellent skill system allows for both creative and lethal builds. However, lack of an auction house is unfortunate."

Guild: Imperial Praetorian Guards

Characters:

Fat Intern Lawl, Monk — PVP monk. Inspired by VG Cats #219 (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=218)

Hanged Man, Mesmer — PVE mesmer that also does some PVP. Named for one of the "ten who were taken" in the Black Company novel. Wears Prophecies 15K armor.

Hat Go On Foot Duur, Monk — PvE protection monk, starting in factions campaign. Rather fun to play, tertiary character. Wears regular Kurzick monk armor. Named after VG Cats #217, where Aeris points out the silliness of requirements to wear obvious things. (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=215)

How I Mine For Rune, Elementalist — PvP elementalist for testing purposes. VG Cats #160, Leo mocks, "How I Mine for Fish?" (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=155)

I Attack Nowz, Ranger — PVP Ranger for some fun beastmaster builds. Also fun to use for Broad Head Arrow shutdown. Named after Ternaldo's quote in VG Cats #102. (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=96)

Lady Arucard, Warrior — PVE warrior named after Arucard in the anime "shingetsutan tsukihime". Wears normal Kurzick armor.

Team Fortress 2 (PC)

"Fun, fast paced action. Team FPS for both the casual and hardcore. Funny dynamic character dialogue! The gold rush payload map is my favorite."

Fury (PC)

"Many good ideas in this game. Intuitive movement and targeting system. Fast paced action. A bit frustrating to have to run on low graphics for performance though."

Characters:

Fyodor Dostoevsky, — A total nooblet.

EVE: Online (PC-MAC)

"Terrible PvE but great PvP. In this high stakes and severe death penalty game, human nature can truly show itself. Very immersive interaction in a sandbox environment. The best market system of all MMOs. Innovative skill system."

Server: Tranquility

Guild: Pelennor Swarm

Characters:

Vladimir Nabokov, Minmatar Hybrid — 15M SP pvp/mission hybrid. Light industrial skills. Prefers flying assault frigates, interceptors, and destroyers. Enjoys factional warfare.

Estiah (WEB)

"Casual card game/rpg hybrid. Alternative character progression. Some neat ideas."

Characters:

Deathbringer, — L.8 Adventurer. Raising her to be a Slayer or Assassin. Using Death Note's Misa as avatar.

Starwarskid, — L.10 Adventurer. Named after the great meme! Raising him to be a Hierarch.

Age of Conan (PC)

"A beautiful game and highly immersive setting. The combat system is also great. However, there are serious balance issues, missing content, and bugs that need to be resolved. Also more grind than expected."

Server: Wiccana

Guild: 3305 Local

Characters:

Muninn, Level 19 Stygian Herald of Xotli — Named after the EVE Online HAC! My PvP alt for fun since the PvP scene on PvE servers sucks. Plays on Deathwhisper server where all the famous GuildCafe people are!

Sifna, Level 73 Cimmerian Conqueror — Party support, secondary dps, and off-tank. 2-hand conq that spams knockdown. The name is an improvised contraction of Sif Nagato after discovering no spaces were allowed. Plays on Wiccana, carebear central server.

Dungeon Runners (PC)

"Looks like an interesting and funny game. Strong influences in art direction from WoW and gameplay from Diablo. Carebear heaven."

Characters:

Dostoevsky, — A filler character for a filler game!

Audiosurf: Ride Your Music (PC)

"add this game to guildcafe already. better than guitar hero and you can compete against high scores from the internet!"

Subspace

"One of my first MMOs, a top down space shooter. Spent countless hours on this game in its heyday. I miss War Zone. Rather visionary and still played today. Greatest tagline ever, 'meet people from all over the world... and kill them'."

Everquest II (PC)

"Trying again due to free promotion. Much smoother game experience than before (2005). Like the crafting system so far."

Server: Nektulos

Characters:

Aciof, Level 12 Iksar Brigand — Nagafen server. Aciof strikes from the shadows to land crippling debuffs.

Strafao, Level 16 Froglok Troubador — Nektulos server. Strafao hops and swims about in Timorous Deep, forcing unfortunate NPCs to listen to terrible music. Future weaponsmith.

World of Warcraft (PC-MAC)

"I only played the trial period. A very well designed game and understandably popular. One of the most immersive MMOS... jump and swim ftw!"

Final Fantasy XI Online (PC)

"The game is rather challenging and requires solid teamwork to play effectively. The ability to change and mix job classes adds a nice touch of flexibility in character setup. However, the game is too achievement oriented. Decent PvE, terrible PvP."

Server: Bahamut

Characters:

Linna, Level 75 Hume Red Mage — Red Mage - 75 Beastmaster - 75 Dark Knight - 60 All pre-ToAU subjobs - 37+ Named after Linna Inverse of Slayers anime. Dragon Slave! Bahamut server.

Atlantica Online (PC)

Characters:

Failcascade, — L108 Artillery Main - flame sword spike & stun pressure :: sword * sword * sword / arty * main * d.archer / shaman * n.viking * monk

Myself, — L.68 Shaman, healing turtle formation shaman * main * shaman / monk * witch * shaman / shaman * monk * exo

welp, — L.29 Chainsaw, spear farm build shaman * spear * shaman / * * */ spear * main * spear

Runes of Magic (PC)

"Casual fantasy game, easy to hop in and out."

Characters:

omgwtfbbq, — L.13 Scout

Ryzom (PC)

"Sounds like one hell of a game I missed. Hope it comes back."

Aetolia

"The Midnight Age. Iron Realms Entertainment's dakr counterpart to the more well known Achaea MUD. Played briefly during college for a class assignment exploring MUDs."

Diablo II (PC)

"Immersive dark game environment. Randomly generated dungeons added greatly to replaybility. Many fond memories, but in hindsight a too much focus on loot. The powerful unique items and runeword combinations left little room for creativity."

The Chronicles of Spellborn (PC)

"The skill system and lack of random rolls combination looks very interesting. I would like to see how this game turns out."

Sword of the New World: Granado Espada (PC)

"Played briefly, seems to have some interesting ideas but I am wary of the Korean MMO grind. The art seems forced and I gave up when I could not figure out how to heal."

Exteel (PC)

"Fun, fast-paced, arcade-style pvp. Innovative combination of MMORPG+FPS. I played until I discovered Team Fortress 2."

RF Online (PC)

"The grinding really is as bad as people say. However, the three way Race vs Race PvP looks like an interesting thing to check out when I get high level. I also like how race leaders are players voted in. PT system is a joke."

Server: Solus

Guild: SamuraiBlood

Characters:

JusticeXI, — Lumen server. Accretian Ranger (Lv. 9). Kinda boring to play compared to the Bellato character.

KiraYagami, — Solus Server - Bellato Driver (Lv. 33). Already broke from paying MAU repair bills.

Cabal Online (PC)

"Innovative in many ways. Its free and the character designs look a bit futuristic and high tech! I love the combo system but hate the lag. Player bazaars clogging up the towns ruins the atmosphere. Worth a try but won't pay for premium."

Characters:

Submission, — Level 25 Force Shielder. Uses strong tanking skills to bunch mobs up, and then spam aoe attacks. Highest combo so far is 13.

Planetarion ()

"Despite being a text-based game, this one can get very involved! You'll want fast lines of communication in order to keep track of the latest military developments."

Mabinogi (PC)

"Some great ideas on the website, but I find it very hard to take this game seriously."

Characters:

Sahtogas, — Continuing the easy naming scheme of picking systems from EVE online. Anyway, test character to explore Mabinogi.

Shaiya (PC)

"Not a bad game. Great mechanics and graphic quality but the art direction was not to my liking. Very typical Asian MMO character models."

Characters:

Evati, — Level 4 Defender. Looks like a clone of many other players due to lack of customization options. Name taken from EVE maps. First serious attempt at playing Shaiya.

Shadowbane (PC-MAC)

"Supposed to have a great PvP system but I simply found the setting to be too dark and depressing with subpar graphics. No hook for me."

Anarchy Online (PC)

"The lore was rather interesting at first, and the game went free so it was worth a shot. However, the dated graphics and clunky interface made it very difficult to get into. I can't believe people once paid $15/mo to play this."

Runescape (PC)

"A horrible game. Its only redeeming quality is demonstrating some possibilities of browser-based MMO."

Flyff (PC)

"Not a bad game but the childish user interface, music, and sound effects can get annoying. Eat lollipops and strawberry shakes to heal HP!"

Characters:

H4NGEDM4N, — Clockworks 8-1 server -- Level 10 Vagrant. Due to the popularity of this game I had trouble making a fun name. Lost patience and went with my internet handle instead :(

MapleStory (PC)

"A fun change of pace from the more serious MMOs. 2-D cartoonish side scroller. I would play this more but it is rather difficult to log in and stay logged in due to the game's popularity and high server load."

Characters:

Aloysha, — Kradia -- Level 9 Beginner: named after character in Brothers Karamazov! Look at the wicked razor blade weapon.

Flyff (PC)

Characters:

H4NGEDM4N, — Clockworks 8-1 server -- Level 10 Vagrant. Due to the popularity of this game I had trouble making a fun name. Lost patience and went with my internet handle instead :(

Archlord (PC)

"Saw the gamespot review on how bad this game was and had to see for myself. Not too far into game."

Characters:

Diclonius, — Evengarda - L.5 Ranger : Saw the cat ears and had to use an Elfen Lied name... only Nana and Nyuu were already taken :(

Silkroad Online (PC)

"I would sure like to try this game more if only servers weren't always congested, barring free accounts from logging in."

Aion: The Tower of Eternity (PC)

"The aerial combat for a fantasy MMO sounds interesting. I would also like to see how PvPvE works out."

Darkfall Online (PC)

"Lots of promises, can they be fulfilled? Target of many vaporware jokes."

2Moons (PC)

"Have to try this at some point just because it is the first game on the list. Having trouble downloading the client though."

Lord of the Rings Online (PC)

"Most likely my next game to visit after EQ2's free month is over."

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (PC)

"Free trial, where are you?"

Firefly (C64)

"This would be interesting to see."

Tabula Rasa (PC)

"Have to see it for myself. Truly epic fail?"

Guild Wars 2 (PC)

"Not just interested in playing, very interested! Seems like the developers know what they are doing and will improve from Guild Wars 1 mistakes."

Pirates of the Burning Sea (PC)

"I will try this game if it ever offers a free trial."
